  • Objective: Ss will be able to use discussion expressions to express their opinions about cyber bulling in argumentative discussion.

Warm Up

T shows Ss a video (handout 1) about cyber bulling.
After watching, Ss are asked to express their emotions about the topic and answer the questions:
-How did they feel while watching the video?
-Have they ever witnessed cyber bulling?
-What do they think about cyber bulling?

Activity 1

T divides class into groups of four;
T asks the groups to write acrostic poem about “cyber bulling” (handout 2)
The groups share their poems in front of class;

Activity 2

T distributes slips of papers with discussion phrases (agreeing, disagreeing, interrupting and asking for an explanation). (handout 3)
Ss match the phrases to the functions (agreeing, disagreeing, interrupting and asking for an explanation)
Ss work in small groups of three;
After 3 min, T puts the flip charts with the phrases and the whole class checks the answers.
8 min
Activity 3

T divides class into two groups and assigns them with different roles.
One group should prepare their arguments about “parents and teachers have the most responsibility to deal with the cyber bulling” and
Another group should prepare arguments about “ students and the classmates are responsible for the cyber bulling”

Activity 4

After preparation the groups represents their arguments in front of another groups. They should use the phrases they have used in the previous activity.

Assessment
T facilitates the discussion, checks if the groups are using the discussion phrases and are they constrictive. She also assess them depend on the preparation stage if they were involved or not.
